Serenity for Android 1.7.3

kingargylekingargyle Posts: 568Members ✭✭

1.7.3-M1 is available.  This is just a bug fix release for some of the external libraries the app uses.  It is also the first version being submitted for the Amazon Fire TV.  1.7.3-M2 will be out by the weekend, with a few more bug fixes for the internal player.

No it doesn't.  The main reason is that most of the channels will still need some sort of transcoding done in order to get them to play.  This requires a commercial key for Serenity to use the Transcoding, and last I checked it was pretty cost prohibitive for the small number of users I have that use the app to add transcoding support.

I'd love to do it, but have focused the app on playing your local content on your local server.    It is also why the app doesn't typically cost as much (development versions are free to everyone), typically compared to the official app.

Maybe if MP4 becomes the standard for streaming, but with web sites still using Flash, transcoding is needed still.

No difference functionally.  1.7.3-M1 is the latest development version from the download site, and it contains the same functionality that the play store 1.7.3 has.  The ones on the development site are development versions, playstore is considered stable, and people get automatic updates through the playstore.  Also helps fund development a bit since I do this in my spare time (what little there is these days).

Where does it crash?  Is there a possibilty that you can get me a logcat?  Does the app show up as being compatible for your device in the Google Play store?   Does a version prior to 1.7.2 work on your device?  If so what version does work.

Oh right, shows up as non compatible from the play store... (Proximus Sony LT30p). How come?

Previous version never tested, created a Plex NAS a week ago.

Crashes right after pressing the icon.

Because it is a phone that doesn't report the right screen resolution and density, so it can't find the necessary layouts and resource files (which I don't include for a Phone).

It is on my todo list to get Serenity working for smaller screens, but it really is optimized for Tablets and Android TV devices.
