Asus Chromebox Openelec (help going from Kodi to Plex)

jbn008jbn008 Posts: 46Members, Plex Pass Plex Pass

I bought a chromebox with the latest build of XBMC Openelec already installed, but as a long time Plex user I prefer to reinstall Plex Openelec.

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to OS installs and was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.  I've seen the "how tos" from Google's OS, but I'm not sure how to get Plex installed when XBMC openelec is already installed on the chromebox?

Which Plex Openelec should I download...Generic or Intel?

How do I actually get it on the thumb drive ready for boot up?

Once I have the thumb drive ready to plug into the Asus, what do I need to do first?

Any help is much appreciated as I am really at a loss for what to do next.

Thank you,

Brent

    Or would PleXBMC add on be just as good?

    The reason I decided to go with a chromebox was to play hd audio and true 24fps that my mac mini was unable to do correctly.

    Thanks

    You should get the Intel build and maybe follow this guys guide: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/130238-asus-chromebox-perfect/

    It should work quite smoothly.

    Good guide (https://forums.plex.tv/topic/130238-asus-chromebox-perfect/) but and whle I don't want to get in the middle of the LibreELEC vs OpenELEC fork, it seems the setup scripts - http://goo.gl/3Tfu5W, http://mrchromebox.tech/setup-kodi.sh (matt.devillier@gmail.com) listed on a lot of how-to pages (including this one) need to be updated since they now reference only LibreElec. That or at least have what I could find as far as the closest LibreElec + Plex Home Theater setup listed-

    Just a thought.

    @pir8

    Look at OpenPHT Embedded for your Chromebox.
