IFTTT

Has anyone here ever gotten Plex to work with IFTTT? I can think of several cool use-cases. I don't think this would be a 3rd party plugin.. seems more like an API call from Plex.tv to IFTTT.

IFTTT Actions based on Plex Triggers

  • Dim the lights when a movie plays
  • Raise the lights when I hit pause
  • Maintain a Google spreadsheet of the shows/movies I've watched
  • Send me a text message when a new show has been added to the library
  • Update twitter with the show I'm currently watching
  • Change the color of my Hue lights to match the mood
  • Automatically start the popcorn

Plex Actions based on IFTTT triggers

  • Add my Youtube "watch later" videos to my Plex Queue
  • When I arrive home, start playing my "relax" music mix from Plex

I saw something about an "IFTTT notification agent" in the dev channel. Anyone know about this? It would be awesome.

No, I'm not. I'm just using this feature "Add my Youtube watch later videos to my Plex Queue".
I'll try to research about the other features. They really seem interesting.

Check out my third party application: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/169591/plexpy-another-plex-monitoring-program#latest

It allows you to do most of these things.

Did you find any IFTTT connections?

Did you find an easy way to "Add my Youtube watch later videos to my Plex Queue"? That sounds interesting.

This was mentioned a while ago too - http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/96434/feature-request-if-this-then-that

plexWatch (https://github.com/ljunkie/plexWatch) is quite handy for connecting to Twitter at least, and can do some logging of shows/movies watched, but not in a Google spreadsheet. I've not looked at PlexPy, but that's something else that may be of interest to you.

But I agree that proper IFTTT integration would be useful!!

Have you guys ever heard an opinion from the staff about this?
This has so much potential for so many things.
I'm not quite sure how the application process works for IFTTT but from what I've read seems pretty easy
