[HowTo] Media file prep for Concerts or similar music-related videos in Plex

Hello,
i recently obtained a 2 disk Pink Floyd concert DVD and i cannot get Plex to read it correctly. here is what i gave done and perhaps someone can see my mistake and help me.

1) ripped the 2 disks to my hard drive with MakeMKV and i did it to two separate folders i called disc 1 and disc 2
2) after ripping i had a folder called disc 1 that contained 11 .mkv files called title0x.mkv (the titles went in numerical order) and a folder called disc 2 containing 16 mkv files named like the ones before.
3)i renamed the folders to Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) - DVD 1 and Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) - DVD 2
4)i fired up filebot and had it look at the folders and it renamed the files to Pink Floyd Pulse (2006).CD1 (with the numbers going up in order
5)i created a parent folder called Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) and placed the two folders Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) - DVD 1 and Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) - DVD 2 inside the parent folder
6) fired up plex and pointed it at the area where the parent folder was

what i eneded up with in Plex i see the Pink Floyd Pulse (2006) listed and it grabbed the art and says there is a 1 hour and 2o something movie but when i play it i get a 3 minute video that is not the concert but one of the bonus tracks on the disc. i also get a seperate listine where it took another bonus track and thinks it's the pixar movie "Up" and made another listing for that and when i play it i get another bonus from the disks. still can't get the concert to show up :(

can anyone assist??

well.... i am not really sure how to name the files correctly at this point i would just like the concert and i guess i could trash the other stuff. it seems the concert is split in two, part is on disc 1 and the other is on disc 2. if i rip them would i have to join them for plex to know or could i just throw just those 2 files in one folder and plex will know its one?

sorry... but i really would like this to work

You can do that. It's called "stacking"
    https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200264966-Naming-Stacked-or-Multi-Part-Movies

The drawback of this method is that not all clients handle "stacked" content equally well.

so i ended up joining the two concert files together and plex is happy with it and plays it. i noticed something though... i cant skip around or fast forward any. if i try it reloads from the start.

is that plex? the con of me joining the files? or something else?

This is probably the player's fault.
Which device/software do you use to play this file?

    This should work, normally.
Is your server a bit weak on the cpu?
Or do you have only very few free space left on your system disk?

Free space on the system disk of the VM?
Or did you re-route the transcoder temporary folder to somewhere else?

15.5GB free of a 40GB disk as for your second part of the question.... still too much of a noob (even after having plex for over a year now) to know how to do that or know why i would want to?

Should be enough, unless you are storing uncompressed BR rips in your library with file sizes over 15GB.
