Where did the Refresh Option go?

Got the new UI the other day and can't find the Refresh option. How do I tell Plex to go check with the server to find any newly added videos?

The new, 'hip' way to refresh is to exit the app and restart it.

Personally, I find it easier to simply go into any category and back out, but everyone has their own way.

As I mentioned elsewhere, but will mention again here in the appropriate thread: Your suggestion and mine did nothing. Andy's went somewhere and actually refreshed the client showing the missing items, namely the Watch Later list and other missing content.

So, for the record - the current workaround to absolutely positively refresh the client, pull down the server tab and click the server.

Unless you're putting the app into the background and not actually exiting it, I am not sure how it would be possible for the app to pull stale data from the server.

If you can give me steps that you have done that are reproducible I can pass that on to the developers. But every time I have tested going into channels, playlists, libraries, and individual items and then going back to the home screen I have seen it update my OnDeck and Recently Added lists. Exiting the app and restarting gives me updated lists as well.

Unless I am just not understanding where you stuff isn't updating or it's a specific HUB not updating, I am just not able to reproduce the behavior of those actions not forcing a refresh. The only thing close to reproducing the issue I have been able to do is when playing an item directly from the home screen, and my hunch is that is because the item skips the post play screen and goes back to the last screen instead of navigating to a fresh home screen.

(I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, just really trying to get something easily reproducible for a number of people that I can pass on so it does become more usable for people)

PSS I have asked for a refresh button before in the past, but instead of actually putting in a button the developers have told me that they would rather work on making the home page do it automatically so you wouldn't need the refresh button. (So not sure when/if that will ever be an option again)

I'm wondering the same thing - how to refresh ... It's not refreshing automatically ... If I select More then go back it refreshes but...

Yep... there it is. Mine usually refreshes when coming back from someplace, but that Watch Later list got stuck in cyberspace... the steps above slapped it into submission.

Steps I took: Double clicked the plex logo in the bottom right of my Windows screen. Clicked on one of my libraries. Its contents were not updated to the newest set of files contained therein. I clicked, in the top left corner, the name of my server, which has a little dropdown arrow to its right. This dropped a menu down with just my server name and little green padlock next to it. I clicked that name. Page reloaded to the top level of all of my menus. Opened the same library...still not updated.

So...getting rid of the simple refresh button was a great f-ing idea. Any other ideas on how to refesh a library?

You are mistaking what this topic was about. It was about a specific app and refresh the screen on the app not an actual server refresh.

To refresh a library from the web app you need to click the ... menu next to the library name. However you do not want to select refresh all you want to select update library. Refresh all will download new metadata for every file in the library, while update library will scan for new media files.
