Service Announcement and impact on Synology users

I am referring to this service announcement https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/210919/old-plex-media-server-versions-are-vulnerable-update-your-install#latest

I think that Plex should clarify what happens to PMS Syno users that cannot upgrade to DSM5 because their Syno does not supports DSM5. If I understood this announcement PMS will no longer be able to access plex.tv for these users. And some of them may have acquired lifetime Plex Pass licenses and/or require external access...

If you are unable to update DSM to 5.0 or later, then Plex will no longer work for you. You may still have limited local use but if you reinstall Plex for any reason you will not be able to use Plex any more on your NAS.

You can install PMS on your PC/Mac or upgrade your NAS or you can contact Plex, details on this page: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201580107-Plex-Pass-Subscription-Management

Since Synology no longer supports your NAS it is not very surprising that Plex will no longer support your NAS either. This is disappointing but understandable under the circumstances.

The Plex team apologises for the inconvenience but their hands are tied.
