Where is Plex Media Player 32 bit

dmtudderdmtudder Posts: 10Members, Plex Pass Plex Pass

The download PMP windows has determined that I have 64 bit arch and doesn't give me an option to get the 32 bit verssion. I am using 32 bit windows 10 OS nd the setup fails. It's getting frustrating paying for a service that doesn't work!!!

XP?! Seriously?! It's 2016, get a new OS. There are huge security issues using XP.

for a 15 year old OS? Seriously? I doubt XP supports the newer technologies anyway, but as danjames92 said, it's really not a good idea to use XP anymore due to security issues.

We still on planing releasing a 32 bit build, but a release for XP or old OS X versions won't happen.

Microsoft is a security issue. Always has been be it Windows XP or Windows 10. I've had more thing broke in 10 than XP. If you want secure you don't use a Microsoft product. Now if you want to be one of the popular people yeah Windows may be your thing. Only reason I ask is I have an older machine here that would be ideal for media. They still run YouTube, media player, real player, and all the other video players fine. There are no technology features with Windows. All they do is change the look, add some more bloat ware, and push it off as a new product. My new Windows 10 Laptop does no more or less then my old XP desktop. It's just a new look and way of doing the same.

Legacy software can slow down the advancement of new development. Let's look towards the future.

where can I find plex media server 32 bit for windows

Just my opinion, but 32bit shouldn't be offered. Everything has supported 64 bit for what...10+ years now? Windows 7 had a 64 bit flavor, so that's where we start. When a 64bit capable computer can be had for <200$ these days (hell get a rPi), 32bit should be abandoned. Like supporting XP, it's only inviting the delay of progress in pushing things to 64bit.

@mjdobson123@gmail.com Well now seeing that Plex offers for download only the current version and no archive of prior versions... I really doubt you will find an old 32-bit version of PMS. If the current download won't work... so sorry.

"Legacy software can slow down the advancement of new development. Let's look towards the future."

"Just my opinion, but 32bit shouldn't be offered. Everything has supported 64 bit for what...10+ years now? "

Both are true if only microsoft didn't do their best to prove you wrong. Basically all small netbooks, windows 10 cheap tablets and intel compute sticks (which btw make a perfect plex player platform) are crippled with a 32 bit uefi bios and so can only run (and come preinstalled) with windows 10 32 bit.

So, as a plex pass subscriber and proud intel compute stick owner I would like to revisit the accepted answer "There are no 32 bit Windows builds yet. It's planned, but there are still some things in the way." because it's still not here :)

P.S. yes I know xbmc+plex plugin is a solution and it's what I'm using but it's cumbersome and slower than just booting up straight to PMP.

We had plans for 32 bit builds, but building on Windows is so much a pain that we didn't really get to it yet. Currently we're changing how we build stuff, and 32 bit might get easier with that. that's not a promise, sorry. But it's not like we're rejecting the idea. (I actually had a 32 bit build one time, but the installer was broken...)

Any news on when the 32-bit version might arrive?
