Feature requests: Keyboard shortcuts for Previous and Next Track / Episode / Playlist item

plcnplcn Posts: 29 Plex Pass

In PMP I’m missing 2 keyboard shortcuts that were present in PHT: Previous and Next Track / Episode / Playlist item. They are really useful if you are listen a music playlist and you want to skip a song. I’m using Flirc, so it would be easy to map them to my Harmony remote.

Are there any plans to add them to PMP?

         "KEY_NEXT": "step_forward",
         "KEY_PREV": "step_backward",

    or

        "Home": "step_backward",
        "End": "step_forward",

    don't work for you?

    take a look at the keyboard.json file in the /examples subfolder

    So those of us who are using Remote Buddy how would we do this?

    I don't have 1st hand experience with remote buddy. I understand it allows you to assign any keyboard key or 'action' to any remote button.
    So assign the Home and End keyboard keys to the remote buttons of your choice and you should be good.

    Well i'm running on a mac, so from what i've read, FN+Left Arrow is home and FN+Right Arrow is end, however when programmed neither one of them actually skips episodes forward and back.

    I can't say I know how remote buddy works. But if it just maps remote buttons to keyboard keys, then you probably only need to edit your keyboard.json file (see above) and assign the

    "Home": "step_backward",
    "End": "step_forward",

    actions to different keyboard keys than Home and End.
    Maybe remote buddy has difficulty with keyboard combinations.
    Or maybe there is some other reason.

    That seems to have worked, thank you very much!

    So it seems like that when i hit FN+Left or Right it does what it's supposed to, problem is when i tell remote buddy to do it doesn't >.<

    So, i've installed a virtual keyboard application that has Home and End, whats interesting is the symbols that Remote Buddy actually sees when i hit them.

    Managed to get it to work now.

    Down only skips back a little bit and up does nothing.

    Home & End do work as mentioned in this thread and aren't listed on the page. They skip to the next/previous track.
