Musings of a FireFly Fan

Last year sometime I incorporated the TVDBDVDOrderAgent into my Plexiverse so as to correctly order the Firefly episodes. After doing so I purposely waited a year to put it into 're-runs' and have discovered it makes a lot more sense (not that I had any difficulty with it's concepts before) and can't help but wonder if the show may have lasted longer if the public at large hadn't been subjected to Network Executives 'fiddling' with the intended order of the thing... in fact, there is no question about it.

Now that Nathan Fillion as lost his job at that long running piece of crap he was involved in wouldn't it be great if Firefly was resurrected?

I will also note that Morena Baccarin (a Bad Guy could kill her off at any moment in her current occupation) and Jewel Staite have not aged in a way that would make them any less enjoyable to watch and Summer Glau's forehead is still overpowering.... so not much has changed there....

I think Netflix, Amazon, HULU, SyFy/Other could see an opportunity to make a ton of cash - providing their Executives didn't screw it up again - at which point I would suggest they are stood up against a pock-marked wall and shot.

Easy on the spoilers - I have just enough dementia kicking in to have not remembered a lot of what went on... don't ruin it for me.

Oh! The TV show. When I first read the title, I though you were going to entertain us with some crazy story about Fireflies. :D

They need to bring back the Brown Coats!

@astrofisher - I have a few crazy stories about fireflies... how'd you know?

@tghowe - absolutely. The long interim since the last time we saw the crew of Serenity could be so interesting... and given Whedon's proclivity to spin a good tale I'm sure there are plenty of good tales to spin.

Well, I finally found this series and had a chance to watch it - good stuff here. Finished the first season and went looking for season 2 and beyond. Really???

Would love to see this given another go.

Yea, me too, but I've been reading that it'll never happen, but they always say that right before it happens. :)

All that's left for you now, Brother is 'Serenity (2005)'. That's the feature length wrap up, that does leave room for more - if we ever get it.

Already found and watched. I thought they did a good job fitting it in with the series. Ayup, I'm still left wanting for more. :(

@JuiceWSA If you tease us with it, what are your crazy stories about fireflies? :) Seriously, I'd like to hear it...

When I was 8 (52 years ago) when ever our family would drive back home to Charleston WV from Baltimore MD to visit the family I would get deathly ill. At that time Charleston was a chemical waste dump. Monsanto, 3M, Dupont, Abex, Gubmint ordnance manufacturers, etc dumped everything they had into the Kanawa River, the air, outer space - the works. You could start smelling Charleston around Beckly.

It was either that or the 12 hour trip from Baltimore on US Rt. 50 (a paved cow path) that did it, but I'd puke for about 3 days and not just a little puke. I'd puke up things I played with as a baby. Projectile, epic puke tsunamis.

Anyway I was in one of my fits and my cousin Rocky brought in a jar of Fireflies and told me I was going to have to get better so I could help catch some. I eased out of bed to look at them and Old Vom-Faithful erupted all over the jar, the dresser, down in the drawers of clothes... Mr. Creosote strikes!

I often think of that and wonder why my relatives didn't just take me up the hollar and shoot me. I guess I was loved at some point in my life and that must have been the only thing that saved me...

    Aww. That's a sweet story. :)

And yes, your family must love you. :)

Oh, the things I would do to get another season of Firefly. I definitely think the ordering of the episodes was silly, but I think the marketing had a lot to do with it as well.

Another series that got cut before it was done was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The ending of season 2 was a horrid cliff hanger when the knew the series was cancelled. At least Firefly had Serenity to try and tie stuff up.

Let's not even talk about Stargate Universe and poor old David Blue left staring out the window to fix Destiny by himself... The Wiki calls that a 'minor cliffhanger'. Minor? I guess they consider the sinking of the Titanic minor damage to an iceberg.

I think Astopuppy needs to watch Firefly again in a few months - this time in the correct order.
