Since saturday some tv shows i added like Iron Fist started naming the episode like the filename even though it knows the episode number and tv show.

The today i added braking bad and all episodes of every season is named braking.bad.s01e01 and so on!

I've had no trouble with this before so why did it start know?

Well first off it is spelled "Breaking Bad" and the periods in the file name are not standard the correct naming is "Breaking Bad - s01e01 - Optional description.ext"

the structure mus also be correct:
TV Shows <--- The library points here
---------Breaking Bad (Year first aired if needed) <--- This folder holds the season folders
------------------Season 01 <--- This folder holds all the episodes for season 01
    -------------------------Breaking Bad - s01e01 - Optional description.ext

and so on for the rest of the show and seasons.
    See:
    https://plexapp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Based-TV-Shows
Note: The folder name is more important than the show name.

"Iron Fist" I am not completely sure of as it may need to be named "Marvel's Iron Fist" or "Marvel's Iron Fist (2017)" but I think that "Marvel's Iron Fist" should be correct as the other "Marvel's" series are named that way.

I know that at least one operating system's aficionados encourage the periods in the name and Plex does its level best to accommodate as many variants of the "best" naming as possible but I believe that the periods can, and should, be spaces except where they have actual meaning so as to make matching easier for Plex.

Periods/dashes or not don't really matter. The main reason folks put periods in files names is mainly linux users who use the command line/terminal a lot. when doing something with files spaces need special notation to escape spaces or else the command gets screwed up. by putting periods in the filename there are no spaces and one can more easily copy/paste and so on.

    this
    Volumes/Movies/Rango.2011/Rango.2011.1080p.mkv

is easier to remember to do than this

    Volumes/Movies/Rango\ 2011/Rango\ 2011\ 1080p.mkv

@BigWheel I understand the "why" of the period in Linux (and Unix which was my first exposure to non-mainframe operating systems) but except for the few people that use Linux command line they are not needed. In fact they are visually confusing to those of us that extensively used operating systems that used the period for one and only one purpose, to separate the filename from the extension. In early versions of many operating systems only one period was allowed in a file name.

I "think" that changed at about Windows 98 but it could have been earlier or it may have been XP.

But My point was that the periods are now non-standard, except for separating file names from extensions and generally should not be used even though Plex is supposed to ignore them. Also some Windows programs (and implementations) still get confused by superfluous periods.

So, unless the OP is one of the few that still use Linux command line utils and have trouble with escape characters I still recommend the removal of unnecessary periods particularly if the files are to be shared or used in other operating systems.

But is does not matter too much as it is mostly just aesthetically better for many folks.

What does matter is the naming, spelling and structure as I outlined above.

FileBot (link in my signature) can handle perfect pre-matching and naming for you automatically or manually in seconds.

What FileBot can't do is remove possible embedded metadata in the Title Field of MP4/M4V files. Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure (you don't have any of those yet), but you can combat that situation by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Show and Movies here:
    https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200241558-Agents
Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it.
If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don't it won't matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom.

Renaming/restructuring is best performed OUTSIDE the library and you'll need to write a new bundle for the show so The Plex Dance® was invented:

    The Plex Dance®:

    1) remove show from library
    2) update library
    3) empty trash
    4) clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <--- update library, empty trash, clean bundles
    5) bring names and structures into compliance
    6) replace corrected show into library
    7) update library

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.
