Unable to connect to the content server with Direct Play, stuttering movie on TV
i'm using Plex for a long time now but more and more there appear some problems which keep me away from using Plex...
I've read several forum postings but none of them took me in the right direction.
My config: Synology DS 1512+ with 4GB, Plex 184.108.40.20634 PlexPass, Samsung TV UE46ES6300 App Version 2.007, connected via LAN. The Synology is plugged in to the same D-Link GB-Switch 50cm away in the same IP range (192.168.178.0/24), no extra Firewall. Plex worked at least with the UE46ES6300 without problems so far the last years...
(I have two more Samsung TVs, one from 2015 and one from 2011 - so sad on the 2011 in my living room: playing movies is worse there, nearly no new movie is working on the UE55D7090, neither with Direct Stream nor Direct Play - but I gave up there).
The problem: suddenly(?) newer movies on the Samsung TV UE46ES6300 stopped working correctly. This lasts since 2-3 weeks now. I know that transcoding will lead to 100% CPU on the weak Synology CPU (I never used this at home), but now when I start those movies also DirectSteam leads to nearly 95-100% - so the movies will stop every 20-30s for a while. I don't understand that DirectStream leads to such a high CPU load - is it trancsoding after all?
When I use DirectPlay movies are stopping immediately with the message "Unable to connect to the content server".
I made sure that subtitles are switched off, deleted every device from the device tab, logged out and in again and spent the last days trying to figure out what is happening.
First I thought the video files were corrupted but with VLC they're all working well. In despair of getting this to work I switched on the Plex DNLA function and startet the movies without the Plex app... and they're all working fine. wtf?
Also my mobile shows those movies without stuttering - via 2,4GHz WLAN... (at the moment one movie rund on VLC, via DNLA and on my mobile simultaneously; Syno-CPU: 10% max. - but not alone on Plex-TV-App... I'm going to get mad... )
I'll post the video and audio codecof one stuttering movie:
Video: Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1), 1920x738, 23.976215 frames/s, Planar 4:2:0 YUV
Audio: Codec: DTS Audio (dts ), Channels: 3F2R/LFE, 48000 Hz, Bitrate: 1536 kB/s
(Infos from VLC v. 2.2.4, Jun. 1st 2016, old as well).
So what's going on? Is it a Plex issue? Would be very sad, I really like the way Plex works - if it does.
Thank you fon any hint to solve this - really annoying - problem.
