Sending logs to Syslog.

jtcozartjtcozart Members, Plex Pass Posts: 3 Plex Pass

Hey all,

I want to send all of my plex logs to syslog. I have added the setting (export PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_USE_SYSLOG=true) to /etc/sysconfig/PlexMediaServer but it seems like nothing is getting logged to /var/log/messages. Am I missing something?

Configuration:
OS: CentOS
Plex User: plex

Yes you need to export it to the environment but all environment variables are now set through the SystemD control mechanism (Ubuntu 16, Fedora/Redhat, Debian 8).

    sudo mkdir /etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d
    sudo echo '[Servce]' > /etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d/override.conf
    sudo echo 'Environment="PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_USE_SYSLOG=true"' >> /etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d/override.conf

    systemctl daemon-reload
    systemctl restart plexmediaserver
