Play button no longer works for items with multiple versions

If I have multiple versions of the same file the play button no longer works. Instead a toast message “record” is briefly shown and nothing more happens. If I have only one version of the file the play button works as expected.
I’ve just noticed this in the latest beta (6.2.0.719) but it may have been present in earlier versions as well.

Updated: I realised that I misrepresented the issue in the title.
