Issues on Roku app accessing local server when internet goes down

Hi,

I have noticed over the last while that the PLEX app on the Roku seems to be getting more bound to having internet access than it used to be. Back several months ago if the internet was down the app would notice that there was no internet and let me pick from a local server within a few seconds. This is not the case anymore. I have noticed it is a few minutes before it detects that the internet has gone down and it takes a lot of effort to get it to work with a local server. I have also noticed I lose access to local users when the internet goes down. I can login with my plex pass account but the 2 local users do not show up till the internet is back.

Is there a way to force the Roku app to look in the local network first then check for other servers after or make it a little more user friendly when the internet goes down? Is there a way to make the local users appear when there is no access to the internet?

Did you ever figure this out? I am thinking of buying a Roku plus and I wanted to make sure it would connect to my local server without needing internet. My internet recently went down for a day and not having Plex was painful.

You can access Plex without Internet, but you cannot access Plex Pass features without Internet, because you have to be logged into plex.tv to verify that you are a Plex Pass user. So Home users would not be able to access Plex, since Home is a Plex Pass feature.

This is absolutely an issue - no matter how many people say it is not.

I can access my media when the internet goes down - but it takes a long time for Plex to 'think about it' - as if it doesn't know what to do when it can't talk to 'Mother'... - then... finally... something happens and things progress until the next thing needs playing - lather/rinse/repeat.

Plex has all their units connected through the umbilical (the internet) to Plex.tv - and when that connection is severed - bad things happen.

Yes - you can use Plex without internet
Yes - it will take a long time
No - there is no workaround.
