[REQ] Plex Server to MyAnimeList (MAL) sync

Nowak94Nowak94 Posts: 2Members, Plex Pass Plex Pass

There is currently a Trakt plugin that syncs what a certain user plays to a Trakt account, I was wondering if someone could implement a direct way of syncing to MAL. Maybe even be proactive and support Kitsu as well.

If anyone knows of a way to sync to MAL automatically please let me know. Also I'm not looking for Web client scobbling with programs like Taiga because I watch on various clients.

I also would like this. I am not aware of a Trakt plugin, but I was looking at trying to get trackma to work. I can't seem to get it to work with plex on freenas. I am hoping for a server side solution that I can run on my plex server.

Github for the trackma solution: https://github.com/z411/trackma

I lack the skill to create such a solution, but maybe someone else who has the skill and cares about anime might be able to help.

I'm searching desperately for a way to sync my plex to ANY anime website. trakt isn't really designed for anime and doesn't seem to work very well. I've gone so far as to set up a shoko server and use their plex metadata agent which is like killing a spider with a grenade launcher. it's huge/clunky/slow and barely works. has anyone found a better solution? like mentioned in the op, stuff like taiga doesn't work for me because i watch from multiple different clients, different computers and different places.

Though this is far from perfect, I wrote a quick Python script to do this for me (https://github.com/xharv14/synchronic) since the only other solution I found was a C# based one. Don't expect any magic though.

I haven't really tested it thoroughly, and I've already seen a few cases where the matching fails (either no match, or matches to the wrong show), so pretty much use with your own caution. I'd probably use it on a test MAL account before using it on your real account, but if you don't care about the incorrect matching or just want a quick-n-dirty solution to dump Plex data to MAL, this works great.
