Using PMS on ESXi (host) / Ubuntu (guest)

There is a known issue with the ESXi VMNET3 adapter and how it interacts with Ubuntu.

The error manifests as an operating system crash while PMS is streaming. It often leaves log files ending in a stream of nulls (\000) characters.

The cause is the LRO (large receive offload) feature in the ESXi driver. Ubuntu is not correctly processing this offloading.

The solution (work around until fixed by Ubuntu) is to use the e1000e adapter type for your Ubuntu guest.
