Plex working on FireFox but not Chrome/Xbox One/Safari with MKV files

sam@buckingham.iosam@buckingham.io Members, Plex Pass Posts: 2 Plex Pass

So I have spent the last few days setting up my new HP Microserver gen8 with FreeNas and the Plex plugin and everything is going smoothly mostly.

My only issue is MKV file orientated it seems as I they do not seem to play unless I use Firefox, if I play something that isn't MKV like a movie then it works on all platform so I'm wondering if its transcoder based.

I've made sure the transcoder tmp directory is big enough by moving it to its own dataset which has over 200GB free and plex seems to create a basic file structure inside that direct however its only 3 Bytes in size and never grows?

I don't get any errors in the logs but I am noticing some strange things still, for example:

The 401 on the POST requests seem rather strange along with the waiting 100ms for more data, I have looked up both these issues with no luck. What is even stranger is the fact it works on FireFox but maybe FireFox is able to play MKV directly so transcoding isn't needed?

Plex also has enough resource I have allocated 15gb with 6 cores just to be sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I manged to resolve this issue by uninstall Freenas and setting everything back up within Open Media Vault and everything is so much more stable, could be due to Promox or it could just be FreeNas being clunk, it didnt seem that stable tbh.
