Samsung UE55H6500 - too slow for plex?

Hello,

some years ago I bought Samsung UE55H6500.
http://www.samsung.com/uk/tvs/full-hd-h6500/UE55H6500STXXU/

Since then my Synology DS-214play got filled with series and movies (currently at 6TB) and the Plex player for Smart hub is now kind of lazy. I update the client regularly.

Also, there are some problems with ASS and internal subtitle timing and encoding, which I think is because of the TV/App.

So I thought maybe something like Raspberry Pi would be better? Any opinions on that? Would I see significant performance increase? Or do you recommend another device?

Thanks.

I have a few older that run the Samsung Hub and they are a little slow for sure.
The newer Samsung TV's run on Tizen and have an official Plex App which is night and day as far as performance.

A Pi might be a good solution for you as its cheap but you might need an IR receiver for a remote unless your TV supports CEC to control it.

I ended up upgrading to the newer Samsung myself.
