Roku Ultra Pauses Video for 7 - 8 Seconds When Skipping Forward or Back

I am running PMS on a QNAP TVS-671-i5-8G-US 6-Bay Intel Core i5 3.0GHz Quad Core, 8GB RAM, 4LAN, 10G-ready. It is set up with three 10TB WD Red Pro Drives in RAID 5 configuration. This is connected to a 1GB wired network running on CAT6A cable. I have two iPhone6+, an iPad Pro, MacBook Air, Dell 7389 2 in 1 laptop and the reason for this question the new Roku Ultra. All but the Roku are running wireless and work great. Fast Forward, Skip Forward, Rewind and Skip back all happen in the blink of an eye. My wife recently tried running Plex on the Dell 7389 on a flight to the East Coast using the airplane's WiFi and it worked great!

However, when direct streaming (no transcoding) over my wired network using the Roku and I initiate a skip forward or Fast Forward (same for skip back and rewind) the video stops, the screen gets dark, I get a spinning icon with a % indicator next to it. This is on screen for about 7 to 8 seconds before the video resumes. Changing resolution doesn't help. Except for this I really like the Roku but honestly this is a deal breaker if a) I can't correct it or b) I find another client that doesn't do this.

What am I missing? What should I try?

    This may have to do with changes Roku is doing right now. I have a similar problem using the Tablo application on my Roku Ultra. It recently popped up. I think the Roku ecosystem is going to be a little unstable for awhile. They are transitioning to 8.0.

    Out of curiosity, what version of Roku Firmware do you have? I've got 7.7 build 4154 on a 2016 Roku Ultra. Loved this box until the recent problems.

    I just purchased a roku premier solely for plex and this is the exact reason why I am returning it. I have a first gen fire stick that's almost instant on REMOTE server fast forwarding/rewind. With the roku premier if I click the 10 second back button it buffers for almost 15 seconds. This really is a deal breaker, didn't realize roku and plex weren't a good pair. I got the roku premier on clearance for $19 and not even at that price is it worth for me to keep.
