Grid View Update for DVR Program Guide

Back on September 28th I posted a [“grid-a-licious” post](http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/289552/ ““grid-a-licious” post”) providing an update highlighting the delay in bringing this feature to life, while confirming our intension to provide it by the end of the year. As I mentioned in that post, we couldn’t guarantee the delivery date due to the nature of software development. Unfortunately, we have had to push delivery out by one quarter due to resourcing challenges. The developer who was assigned to this had to be moved to another project. End of bad news!

To reiterate, grid view has been delayed, but is definitely not dead. The feature has been planned out and we’re still looking at bringing the classic “spreadsheet” style timeline view with channels, logos, and all the program information you need to get a sense of what’s airing now and what’s airing later on. You’ll be able to tune in live to a channel directly from the grid view while also being able to schedule programs to record as you navigate forward it time.

Our original plan was to deliver this by the end of Q4. We now have it as the #1 top new feature priority for DVR in the new year, with plans to deliver it a soon as we can (while balancing priorities with DVR stability enhancements).

Thanks goes out to @teshiburu for calling out that this thread needed to be updated.

Y’all are getting grid view! It’s just taken a little longer as the last quarter our focus for DVR was on stability (yeah, fixes!) and client parity. We had some rather critical DVR stability issues that required more attention and work was done to get scheduling and full time shifting onto more client players. Next quarter is focused on bringing grid view (which we agree is an important feature) and adding some new functionality to enhance the user experience for DVR.

“Channels” (grid view) launches today for all Plex Pass DVR users (and their home users) on web! Plex Web 3.53+ is required. To dive in, head on over to Plex Web and click on “Guide” in the left-hand menu. “Channels” is now the default display in the Guide, with other views (including “Discover”) available in the drop-down.
