Is there a way to get Plex to not suck?
Can't find server. (It's on the same computer that's running Plex)
Can't remember movie posters.
Forgets settings.
Can NEVER take ownership of server. (Running on the same computer as Plex.
Crashes constantly.

    Sorry you're frustrated. Obviously it's not the intention to have those issues! We don't intentionally make Plex suck. Honest! Right, your questions:

    Can't find server. (It's on the same computer that's running Plex)

    What OS/browser are you using? Are you using the server's bundled app, or plex.tv/web?

    Can't remember movie posters.

    Are you editing them and they don't stick when you refresh the page? Please can you supply web and server logs?

    Forgets settings.

    Which settings? This sounds like it could be related to the above. Are you running any extensions in the browser? Again, app logs would be hepful.

    I'm sorry. I have to agree with Jeff. Plex sucks!. I have been running an inhouse Plex server on Ubuntu for maybe 3 years. I try to access my music, movies, and photos from many types of devices, Windows 10, Android, IOS. None of the device apps work the same. It takes tens of minutes to figure out how to find something let alone play it. Artwork for unknown music is incorrectly labeled. Songs get put into "Various Artist" when they reside in a specific artist folder. I have to use the Ubuntu DLNA server just to access a basic playlist. Plex sucks and I don't know why I continue to use it!!!!!!

    Sounds like mostly user errors. I have very few issues. Been a lifetime member for over three years. Sure there are things that could be tweaked but nothing you mention is a problem here. It works!

    I'd love to help you out with that. Are you using the premium music feature, or regular music libraries? Can you please share with me what your library filesystem looks like?

    No, they are correct, plex is a huge PIA, and I don't know why I keep using it either. Probably because when it works, which is about 50% of the time, unless I reboot either device or server or both, it works great.

    I would put plex up there with microsoft in level of user frustration. Just my experience over 4 years.

    You've got a Plex employee offering to help and all that all 3 of you want to do is complain. Not a single attempt to try and fix the problem. As another user that's been using Plex for over 3 years trouble free the problem isn't likely Plex and IS likely user related.

    @Dom C I don't know how you and other Plex employees do it.

    Windows 10 with the app installed using the Plex Media Server download. My browser is Chrome Version 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (64-bit)

    They stick for a while, then randomly change after a few days or weeks.

    • Subtitles stop displaying.
    • Subtitle size changes.
    • 24-hour clock switches to 12-hour clock.
    • Stops updating Library automatically.
    • Hardware acceleration switches off.
    • Starts including Cinema Trailers.
    • Forgets what I have/haven't watched.
    • Forgets libraries, posters, Sort Titles

    I'm running a few browser (Chrome) extensions, but these have been in use for several months without any apparent effect on Plex.

    • Adguard Adblocker
    • HTTPS Everywhere
    • Kaspersky Protection

    Are you actively using 'Click and Clean'? That sounds like it would delete our settings from a quick glance. It would be worth seeing if you get the issues in Incognito mode on Chrome to at least rule that out. Thanks!
