Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up

Since the recent update nothing only certain files will play, those that dont get this error on screen “conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up”.

Plex - taking your money since 2008

Isn’t this a plex forum? Plex devs please weigh in and support your product!

Plex doesnt provide support via email or forums (or at all by the sound of things) - you are on your own

I get the same message as you - total cr*p for the cost
Free software like Kodi / SPMC can play the same files!
but premium product Plex cannot - what are we paying them for!

I have been using plex for a few years now. Over 1500 movies in library. 20k song music library. I just started using it for TV shows and now i am getting this transcoder error fail like the rest. This is extremely frustrating as I have not done any updates recently. I have a windows server 2012 sitting in my home dedicated to this software. Nothing has changed other than now it doesn’t work. What is going on?

I’m having the same issue. It just started with the latest server update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no luck. I tried rolling back my registry pre latest version. My first attempt of doing this crashed my pc. I then tried rolling back the register but went back as for as my machine showed. Back to about a week ago. Well now my pc works fine but as you’ve all posted not all files will play. I get the error message mentioned. I’ve been thinking maybe I should install the version that’s available to non members. Being that they get the updates later maybe it’ll fix the problem. I’ve gotten many an update over these past years and this is the first time that I’ve ever run into any problem.
