Are Plex servers and clients ported equally?

zookeykneezookeyknee Members, Plex Pass Posts: 2 Plex Pass

I am currently running Plex server for Raspbian (Stretch) and noticed that the current version for other Operating Systems are one step ahead of the Raspbian version. Is this a glitch in the current "Check for Updates" feature/option or is Plex Server for Raspbian ported by another party? I update manually using "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade"
Current Platform:
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
OS: Raspbian (latest build, and updated as of yesterday)
Plex Server: Version 1.10.1.4602
Network: On-board Ethernet

Thanks in advance.

No, 1.10.1.4602 is the most recent public release for every platform ;) Just disable the beta update channel. I do not make the betas available in my repo. However, if you are really eager to test the betas, take a look into my Plexpass thread [1].

Thanks, for the response. The latest Server and app downloads available through Plex Pass are Betas?

Yes, the Plexpass exclusive versions are betas.

Why does the main product page list the new Collections feature as if it were currently available? This feature seems to require Plex Server v. 1.11... which is still only available as a beta for Plex Pass holders.

Because Plex does not consider them betas. Plex has come up with a model where we, Plex Pass holders, pay to be beta testers. Plex presents this as an advantage for Plex Pass people and gains a pool of testers without having to set up a true beta testing program of their own.

Plex does a pretty good alpha test and then releases to the Plex Pass guinea pigs to finish testing and that is where the bugs, usually, get exposed.

If you want probable stability then stay with the general release but if you want the latest features then take your chances with the Plex Pass beta. "You pays your moneys and you takes your chances."
