The film works for me but the moment I choose subtitles it registers me

    That NAS is not powerful enough to transcode. if whatever player you are using cannot play whatever types of subs you have natively then it will need to transcode the subs into the video stream

    i haven't used DNLA in years to be honest. thats why i just said "player"

    Apparently DNLA does.. But it seems depended on the player..like you said.

    Other sources on the net state about the same thing. It's player dependent...
