Hardware transcoding not available after DSM update

This is a known event because DSM resets the CPU/GPU permissions.
There is nothing which can be done to prevent DSM from doing so.

The solution is to Uninstall PMS and re-install it. Your Library data (the Plex share) will not be erased during these steps.

This is necessary because PMS runs as an unprivileged user on Synology and cannot alter OS-level permissions once installed.

The package installer is the only part of PMS which runs privileged (root). While the binaries are being reinstalled, the installer also reinstalls the rules files (udev) which were removed when DSM was updated.
