How do I remove the annoying preview picture when casting

BodestoneBodestone Members, Plex Pass Posts: 15 Plex Pass

When I cast plex from the web player and minimise the play bar there is annoying still photo of the episode (the same as in the episode list) displayed at the bottom left of the screen.
This blocks the bottom of the server content list and, more importantly the left of the play bar.

How do I get rid of this?

And yes. I am watching crud TV as background while I have a lot of work on.

I would appreciate an answer to this. Currently there is times where I will start a movie or tv show on my computer than decide to go take a bath. During the bath I finished the movie but I come back to my computer (even days later) and it will show the progress of the movie still back where I originally stopped it on my computer before the bath.

It is quite annoying and wish there was a way to just disable it. There have been a few cases where things glitch between different devices causing things to show progress in different areas. Would really prefer I could just turn off (at least for movies and tv shows) the "current playing" bar as it seems to mess up a lot for me, or make it so they sync their stuff better.

It should sync better. If you see situations where this doesn't happen, please can you give details of what you're flinging to? Obviously it should close when media has completed/closed elsewhere.

The image is the thumbnail for the media played. In this case it's rather dull since the episode doesn't have a specific poster. It shouldn't prevent you from accessing anything though. 'News' on your image is the last item.

OK. How do I turn the thumbnail off. I don't need it as I can see what's going on on the screen of my telly.

    It wasn't there last year.

The web interface looks great until it gains a bottom right, rectangular, carbuncle on play to remote.

That would be most excellent as during cast it only shows the thumbnail and is quite annoying.
I do understand its purpose for local play but when casting a small upward pointing arrow would suffice.

Thankyou for your time in responding and suggestion offered. This swift response and solution has made me happy again after struggling with a certain music service which, after 4 years can only shuffle the first 50 tracks of a larger playlist and is spectacularly absent in response to the issue.

This is my first forray into Plex support that was an actual Plex interface issue and I have a positive response from the Plex team themselves. This is very good.

    Cheers again.

    Rob.

Ok, we chatted with our UX and web teams and decided that the poster isn't preventing access to anything and is consistent across the application, so I'm afraid (for your use case) we'll be keeping it as is.

I hope you understand and aren't too irked by that decision

I do understand as there are many other priorities and great peices of functionality to be worked on.

I do find it a shame as it jars really badly with the rest of an otherwise well designed interface. Much more so when there is no functional reason for it.
Even if it always matched the height of the player bar would be an improvement.

I'll see if I can run up a tampermonkey script to pretty it up a bit when casting.

    Cheers,

    Rob.

Totally unsupported, but you can at least clip the miniplayer by selecting the last reactroot (for now):

    document.querySelectorAll('[data-reactroot]')[4].style = 'overflow: hidden'

Generally the class names that end with f1ad etc aren't stable, so the above should at least be stable across most releases.
