Bug? Plex skipping episodes when backend does not respond

This seems to have happened for the last few versions of Plex Media Server.

When the backend server is under stress (moving files, compiling, or running a process), the backend fails to respond quickly. When an episode finishes, it correctly attempts to queue up and play the next. After approximately a few seconds, the episode stops playing, no message is displayed (it used to say a message about the backend service being down), and then it plays the next episode as if it had successfully played.

I am not sure if the problem is with the android app error handling or the backend server not sending an error.
