Alexa and bandwidth

I set up Plex so I could use it with my Alexa and try to save bandwidth. Our internet usage has gone way up since we acquired our Alexa devices, and I was hoping to reduce that by serving up our music locally using Plex. However, I noticed that you have to enable remote access for Plex to work with Alexa. Does that mean all my data is being passed through the internet? That would effectively double my usage correct (sending it up from Plex, and pulling it down to Alexa).

Is there way to get Alexa to play music from Plex locally? If not, are there plans to make this possible?
