systemd based systems, Centos 7, Redhat 22+ and Ubuntu 16+ , which boot very quickly (usually SSD-based) and where PMS is set to automatically start can experience a race condition which makes PMS report itself as Unclaimed. This occurs because the system has started PMS before all network components (the network stack and all adapters) are fully initialized and ready.

Below shows how to patch this issue until the permanent change can make its way through QA and into distribution

Edit: /lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service

Change: Line 3.

To be:

After=network.target network-online.target

To make immediately effective

sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver

Alternatively, the computer can be restarted.

Please DISABLE Verbose logging until requested

Please search before posting

Primary support: Linux, Synology, and QNAP

Please remember to report back. This benefits others.
