Plex Indirect on external networks again.

littleneutrinolittleneutrino Posts: 30Members, Plex Pass Plex Pass

A few weeks ago I was having this issue. I was told to run the Database Optimize, Clean Bundles, and Empty Trash then restart Plex. At the time it worked. It is happening again and this has not resolved the issue this time.

Plex Version 1.13.2.5154
Synology DS415+ Running DSM 6.2-23739
I am forwarding Port 32400 to my NAS via my Router. and Technically it all still works, Plex is just telling me that all connections are Indirect if you are not on my local network.

I have attached the Plex Log below.

You have many problems to deal with. Start by rebooting your modem/router and everything connected to it including any wireless devices.

Then make sure the port forward rule in your router uses TCP, port 32400, and it points to your NAS IP Address. Then go to Plex settings > server > remote access > show advanced and make sure you have 'Manually specify public port' enabled and leave it set to 32400 then click on apply. Don't forget to click on Save Changes.

It is also a good idea to give the NAS a static IP Address, or if your router supports it, use DHCP Reservation.

Then you need to do the following several times:

    1. Optimise Database
    2. Empty Trash
    3. Clean Bundles
      ...

Wait for each step to complete before moving to the next step.

Next, I recommend that you organise your media according to Q5 on the Synology FAQ's page, link in my signature. The default Video folder is intended for use by Video Station and it has been known to cause issues with Plex in the past.

And finally, but not least, you need to check ALL of your media files for errors and correct them by either replacing the file or by re-encoding the file. See Q17 & Q28 on the Synology FAQ's page, link in my signature.

    I have rebooted everything.
I have a Port Forward rule already setup for that port to the NAS (with a Static IP Address)
I have done the Optimize, Empty Clean processes a few times is this not a complete process?
I will do the checks for checking for errors.

How do we repair the database just to see if that helps?
