Ubuntu NTFS formatted HDD mounting permissions

Unable to add directory to the library
Hi all!

Before everything, I should note that I've read carefully forums and tried proposed workarounds, however without any success. Hopefully, you can help me out with this one.

I have a box with 2 HDD's. One is running Ubuntu and is ext4 formatted, the other one is NTFS formatted. I'm planning to create a dual-boot machine, so I kinda need NTFS volume to share data among systems (need not to mention that media is stored at this volume).

I've tried modifying permissions in /etc/fstab and adding plex user to several groups.

My /etc/fstab line for NTFS volume currently looks like this:
UUID=<actual HDD UUID> /media/<defaultuser>/Data ntfs-3g group,users,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0

I've tried different variants, including mounting volume exclusively for plex user, and using gid=46 (plugdev) withouth success.

And user plex is currently the member of the following groups:
plex : plex plugdev <defaultusergroup>

Moreover, permissions for the folder are set as 777 (read,write,execute for all).
<defaultuser>@desktop:~$ ls -l /media/<defaultuser>/Data/
total 8
drwxrwxrwx 1 <defaultuser> <defaultusergroup> 8192 Nov 13 21:52 Videos

Still I cannot see the "Videos" folder in plex web GUI (not listed).

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, or maybe can pinpoint what am I doing wrong here?

    You need to mount it as user plex - that is pretty much all there is to it, permissions like 777 have no meaning on NTFS drives. (Unix file system permissions only work on unix filesystems)

    Well, actually I managed to overcome this issue without using plex user.
    Had to use the following fstab code:
    UUID=<actual HDD UUID> /media/Data ntfs-3g fmask=000,dmask=000,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0

    Ubuntu by default uses a folder with default user name to as a mount point. Mounting directly to /media/ seems to solve access issue.

    Thanks for the help anyway.
