Not sure if this is feature or a bug, but anyways.

Im adding a lot of documentaries to my PMS. And I always need to add the folder with the documentaries as "home videos" to be sure it shows up on the plex client. Now, I understand it has to do with the metadata, tagging and such. But I dont understand why PMS wont show (serve) the different documentaries no mather what. This is kinda mission critical to serve up the contents with or without the proper metatag.

Is there any other way to make sure content is beeing served without this strict mode?
(Im always in bed, ready to see a documentary and it wont show up! So I need to get up and fix stuff!)

So you did that for me? It was late when I wrote the post and it just had happend to me, and Im under the weather and having the tootch ache for hell.
Hopefully you understood the gist of what I was rambling about.

    Prioritize:

    1: Deliver content
    2: Metadata

    Hello all,

Just tried installing this but the server http://shell.ninthgate.se seems to be giving me a 404 not found on both the packages and the key.

    Any ideas??

    Cheers

    Sorry for this.
It should now be up and running.
I actually tried to fix it last night but I fell asleep infront of my computer (laptop in bed).

Nice one! OK, got the package and installed it on my Openmediavault server. The services running are:

    plex 25054 1 0 12:08 pts/1 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/sbin/start_pms
    plex 25056 25054 0 12:08 pts/1 00:00:01 ./Plex Media Server
    plex 25073 25056 0 12:08 pts/1 00:00:00 /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex DLNA Server
    plex 25138 25056 0 12:08 pts/1 00:00:00 [python] <defunct>

I can connect to the web server at http://localhost:32400/manage/index.html

However, I am unable to setup the folders - when I hit the "Add Section" button nothing happens. I have attached the log file in the hope you can spot the problem.

    Cheers

Did some more digging and found this thread http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/43965-new-issues-in-the-last-day-or-two/

Removed the 2 bundle directories and PMS has come to life - great product!!

Is it a common problem with the thumbnails on the plex web admin pages? I got nothing. Sometimes they are showing for like 1/100 second and then dissapears again. (upon refreshing)

Same goes for the plex client for ipad.

Running the latest version on Debian squeeze with a 16gb i5 system.

It's now like a week ago since I posted this. And now there is no thumbnails showing in the plexweb again. This is quite strange.
There is nothing done to the install since, only new shows added.

My best guess is you got some error in the file =)

Edit : /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list and check so it is one line and that it looks correct.

    nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list

Hi I am copying and pasting from the front page of this thread, is the data there incorrect then?

  • garyigaryi Posts: 600Members ✭✭

Sorry I have no idea what I am doing, I am not an expert or even a novice. My hope was copy and paste each line of the front page which I have done but the same errors come up.

When I do the nano command there, a sort of file page opens up with various lines all saying deb http://shell.ninthgate.se/packages/debian squeeze main.

Not sure what I am supposed to do with that, but in terminal I have put the actions in correctly, i.e. to my eyes there are five actions to perform, I am not getting past 3 though.

If someone could provide me with instructions I can follow it would be appreciated!

ok. in this file delete everything and paste only "deb http://shell.ninthgate.se/packages/debian squeeze main" in it one line and without the "" then run apt-get update.

Unfortunately still encountering the same issue, is there a chance for a debug build or should I just start looking into doing my own build?
