I tried your suggestion. However, plexconnect did add the httpd-vhosts.conf. It was not there before so reverting back is not possible.
With regards to the other file in directory EXTRA (httpd.conf-user). It is empty, meaning there are only comments in it. Addon: oeps...had to scroll down further...

I will try to change the httpd.vhosts.conf for the atv part to port 82. Would that work?
Oh, no special changes made to photostation here.
  • bjorn72bjorn72 Members Posts: 11
Yesyesyes.....reverted back. Website and photostation work again.
What I did is what you suggested:
I commented the line in the httpd.conf-user linking to https-vhosts.conf.
I suppose doing so prevents plexconnect to call the file httpd-vhosts.conf?

    Then restarted the apache webserver.

However, I presume plexconnect is no longer working now? Cannot check right now.

    What you can try:
    1) Move the plexconnect vhosts config to a new bak file:
    mv /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf.bakplexconnect

    2) Restore the original vhosts:
    mv /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf.bak /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf

    3) Restart apache:
    /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.d/S97apache-user.sh restart

If this doesn't fix things, you can try the following additional steps (disable vhosts all together):
    4) Edit /usr/syno/apache/conf/httpd.conf-user and look for the following lines:
    #Virtual hosts
    Include conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf

    5) Comment the second line with a #, so it looks like this
    #Virtual hosts
    #Include conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf

    6) Save and restart apache again
    /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.d/S97apache-user.sh restart

This should bring you back in the original situation before plexconnect was installed (bwynants can confirm if this is still the case with the latest version).

Edit: Did you guys make any special adjustments to photostation besides installing it? Maybe I will try to install it too, to see if I can reproduce this behavior.

Many thanks for the quick reply. I ended up re-installing the Synology DSM which fixed the problem. I looked for files before I did this, but had no original vhosts*.bak file. Steps I did were as follows:

    1. Running DSM4.2 with PhotoStation already installed

    2. Installed Plex - all working

    3. Installed the Community version of Python - all working

    4. Installed PlexConnect from bwynants package - no longer able to access PhotoStation locally, via iOS apps or internet

A request is send to SynoCommunity to add the package see https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/pull/576

if they add it, I plan on making addition patches for each dot 'release' of PlexConnect and Package Manager on Synology should inform you of updates automatically.

as long as it is not added I will update this post with the latest 'released' version

you can sync to https://github.com/bwynants/spksrc and build it yourself if you like :-)

PS: if PlexGDM works correct there should be no need to edit anything in the config...

    Thank you for your efforts!

    About PhotoStation:

I have to investigate that further, however uninstalling PlexConnect should restore your files in the original state...

What the 0.1-1 installer  forgets is to restart apache upon uninstall, the packagesources at https://github.com/bwynants/spksrc already do that correct but I did not yet build that version,

so either restart the NAS after uninstall or do /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.d/S97apache-user.sh restart from the terminal

updated installer in first post for uninstaller

Well yes, there is an issue with photostation but also webstation if you have your website hosted on the NAS.
I think the easiest way would be to have them all on port 80.
The httpd-vhosts.conf makes port 80 forward to port 5000. So you will end up on the DSM instead your website.

    Heya

    Thanks for this package

I got it installed ok, but no video plays (even lower quality stuff)

My NAS is a DS1512+ which has this against the 'transcode' column in that support spreadsheet: *May transcode some low bit-rate 720p media

So if I am to understand this correctly, no matter how hard I try, plexconnect will NOT play video?

Is there some way to make it play the stuff I've transcoded already using plexsync?

The best thing for you to do is use something like subler or iflicks to remux media into an ATV compatible format (it takes a few minutes for a movie with no quality loss).

First off, thanks for putting this package together.

I'm a newbie and not really familiar with unix. I installed plexconnect and changed the DNS server on the ATV to the one on my NAS. However now I'm getting a response saying "Trailers is unavailable. Try again later".

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Device and OS: Synology 212j DSM 4.2

I'm trying to follow the steps, but can't figure out how to install Python from SynoCommunity. I've followed the first few steps in the link below, but I don't see a tab labelled "Other Sources" after adding the package source. Can someone help?

At what point do you get the error message?

Are the files compatible with the ATV (i.e. will they play through iTunes), if not your NAS may not be powerful enough to transcode (check the list i have referenced a few times in this thread).

New Installer posted in first post that should support PlecConnect + Photostation + personal website on NAS

  • stehohrhasestehohrhase Members, Plex Pass Posts: 194 Plex Pass

Thank you, for new installer. I tested:

Now I can Access to PlexConnect, but I can see only MovieNames. Thrumbnails / Poster are not shown and no Movie is acessable.

Always Error: The Video can not be played.

Is it possible, the PlexConnect is started before Plex is ready or what is now the Problem ?

download the .spk file in the first post,  logon to your disk station, open package center, choose manual install (on top) and browse to the file you downloaded

hope you manage to do so :-)

    Hi bwynants,

I think you misunderstand my previous post, I have already installed both your packages the problem is they try to run then stop.

There is a log created by by your plexconnect package that I want to post so you can see errors.

Do you know how I can copy and paste log window so I can post.

    Hope you understand

Have a similar issue. Get an ErrNo 98 in the log.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

I tried your newest installer and it broke the photo station. Uninstalled it and photostation came up again.
