I'm using Ouya for plex to connect to a library running in an unRAID server with a LOT of media.

15 terabytes of movies and shows, at last count.

As soon as it discovers the server, the plex app crashes and I'm back at the ouya screen.  I've tried updating the server to the latest unraid version, factory refreshing the ouya, wired and wireless, to no avail.

Plex works fine serving up media to the computers running home theater version, and to my iOS devices.  But i have no other android device to test against.

The plex app runs if i do not connect it to the network.  Only when given network access and it sees my library, then does it crash back to the ouya app screen.

I've tried the plexBMC plugin and the serenity android plex player.  The plexmbc plugin does not launch at all, and while serenity will browse the library, it fails to play anything.

The frustrating thing is that this used to work perfectly before I moved. The ouya was transported in a padded box and showed no signs of damage, but it certainly behaves as if it broke somehow.  Everything else is working since the move anyway.

I am having the same problem, as well. I've uninstalled the OUYA Plex app, removed it's cached data, re-installed it, but it's still crashing on discovering Plex servers. Mine just started happening without apparent cause. It worked perfectly before this started.

However, I do remember upgrading one of my Plex servers to its latest version recently. Perhaps some bug exists in the current Plex app for the OUYA when it tries to connect to the latest version of the server software?

Oryhara, let me know if you have any luck getting it working again. I would love to have access to my Plex server from the OUYA again.

* Ok I have the same issue with Plex on ouya.

It had been working for the last while, now it opens Plex and Crashes> I get the report crash screen for a brief second and it goes back to Ouya's home page.

* I Cleared cache> Uninstalled & Re-Inastalled> I checked to see I was on the same wifi network on my plex server and ouya> still the same issue.

* I feel this could be a Plex issue with android and its last update.

*Can someone provide feedback on this?

Just as an update... I'm still having the same issue as being described by everyone (including myself) above. So, no fix has been rolled out yet. Absolutely can't wait to be able to use Plex on my OUYA again. Soon, hopefully. :)

Keeps stating the Last startup failed and needs to send crash report. *(Then crashes before sending report)

You guys might want to consider trying other Plex clients than the official one on your OUYAs.

I have successfully used 'XBMC for OUYA' with the PlexBMC addon and the Plex-oriented XBMC skin 'Amber'.

I've also successfully used the 3rd-party Plex client 'Serenity', both stand-alone and with the external player "MXPlayer".

Using the latter is a bit more complex though, as you need to either sideload the apps (as downloaded to a PC) or have the OUYA rooted with 'Xposed Framework' and its 'Google Play' module extension, so you can install apps from the normal 'Google Play' app store, since these apps are not available in OUYA's 'Discovery' store.

Serenity also has the limitation that it can only access a Plex server on the same LAN (no remote myPlex login).

As for the official Plex client, I've removed that from my own OUYA and do not plan to install it again at any time in the future.

It has become clear to me that even when the Plex client is not running, it has activated some background service, which appears to be in conflict with some service routines added or modified in recent OUYA updates. Even when not running the Plex client I kept getting reports about how 'Plex stopped', when I was in fact running other software. To me such interference is unacceptable, so that app is permanently kicked out of my OUYA.

NB: My last comment above does not necessarily mean that the Plex app is bad for normal Android systems. It is the OUYA which is abnormal in MANY respects.

I don't agree.  I have a home filled with clients: Ouya, Nexus tablets, Asus Tablets, Galaxy 4 phones.. and more.  ALL CRASH either configuration to connect locally on the network OR loopback via port forward OR using my Plex account.

There is a MAJOR issue with the new server or something else is amiss here.

There should be a lot more discussion on this - not sure why more people aren't speaking up... All my PC plex clients are working fine as well as my office PC using the web console.

If its an Ouya issue please explain my six other android issues.  Also, Ouya and Plex have a working relationship hence Plex is free on the Ouya, I find it hard to believe that the Plex and Ouya dev teams would not "care" about this issue.

@kermby123:
I'm not sure what to say about your problems, except that they don't match my results.
For me the Plex client is not crashing on the other android units where I have it, which include a 'Nexus 7' tablet and an 'HTC One X' phone.
I tested both of those just now, and the Plex client still works fine on both of them.

I'm not a big fan of 'Plex for Android', but it is working on most of my devices.
It even worked on the OUYA, though it had side effects there that I didn't like.

You mention a new server, and perhaps that's the source of your problems.

I am myself using a slightly older PMS version 0.9.9.10, rather than the latest release 0.9.9.12, due to problem reports by others.
In fact I never go for the latest release of PMS directly, but mostly wait a week or so, to see if there are new problems.
It's different with the clients, but a bad PMS release could mess it up for me with all clients, and maybe even ruin the database.
So for the server I always wait a while, looking for problem reports, before updating.
