Hi Everyone,

I'm a bit new to Plex but a long time fan of XBMC. I installed Plex 0.8.5 in early March and have been playing around with the various components. Here's my issue:

YouTube plugin worked for me the first week I loaded Plex. Now for some reason I get the following error on EVERY video:

Error
Could not read from input stream

I've tried uninstalling / re-installing / updating the plugin and so far it hasn't fixed the issue. I can however browse through the numerous videos available on the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed... I searched the plugins forum and didn't see anything relative to this issue.

Thanks!

No worries - I think I fixed the problem. I installed Plex on my other Mac and noticed YouTube worked fine. I did a full uninstall of Plex and re-install. Now it's working properly.

Update to an update... Turns out after installing the YouTube plugin there is an update pending immediately. The update BREAKS the plugin and causes the error reported above. Simple fix is to not install the update.

Anyone know if there is a way to turn off automatic updates for applications?

I'm having the same problem, it started a couple of days ago. I can't watch any Youtube videos in Plex, I get the same error message.

Hi guys,

I have recently installed Plex on my Mac mini, and am using it as a media centre with my LCD TV. Loving the UI and everything so far!

Have installed the Youtube plugin, but recently after an update I am getting the following error when I attempt to watch a video ...

"Error
Could not read from input stream"

Your help would be gratefully appreciated..

PS > Keep up the good work!

I've noticed this too for some plugins using YouTube videos and I found what's causing the problem. I'll look into this today and come up with a fix!

Another plugin dev already took care of it. New version is available in the App Store (at least the version I just installed worked perfect).

Still getting the "can't read from input stream" error here. Ran the updater in app store, quit and restarted plex, same deal.

Yup, still getting the same error on selecting videos to play. I've uninstalled completely, reinstalled, updated, restarted media server, no joy. Forced to watch to watch YouTube on Boxee (or my iPad).

We just pushed another update to the store which has an extra check in it to grab the right video path. Hopefully this will solve the problem!

Unfortunately I'm still getting the "Could not read from input stream" error. I am running Plex on OS X 10.5.8 on a white Macbook. The PBS plugin author had a similar problem and traced it back to a bug that only affected Leopard users. Perhaps this could be the case here?

Here is the log from my attempt to play the iPad "Will it Blend" video:

Hey Bill!
I've checked out stuff and helped testing the PBS plugin, but it's a completely different issue with the YouTube plugin. Thanks to the part of the log file you posted I could immediately see what the problem is. I made some changes and an updated (again, sorry :P) version will be in the App Store shortly.

P.S.: I'm working on a completely new version of the YouTube plugin which will also include the option to access your account (favorites, playlists, etc), but it's going to take a while before it's finished.

Assuming the new version made it to the App Store (there was an update waiting for me), I still managed to get the same error after doing a clean reinstall (delete and remove data followed by an install). Here is the log of the results, again same iPad video from most watched this month section.

CORRECTION! This video did not work using a Web browser either. There is apparently a problem with video. Playing another video through the plex plugin worked fine.

Move along, nothing to see here! ;-)

Pfew ;) Thanks for your post, Bill. I was looking at your log file and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work (as all the info from the log file is correct). I'm glad it's all working again!

Is it just me or is search not working? I type in something, hit Done and nothing happens. Not even an error message.
