In celebration of Plex for Windows, I've created a Windows version of Preen.

It is very similar to Preen and uses the same database, but installs skins on Windows based Plex.

The program requires Dot Net 4.0 and will request Administrator Privileges. This is due to the restrictions of modifying files within the Plex program files folder.

If you have Windows 7, it is likely that you already have Dot Net 4.0 already installed. If not, you can download it from here: Download

Any bugs or feature requests please let me know.

Thanks to vicariousMe for the idea, skin database and useful information that helped me create this program.

Changelog:

v1.32

You can now cancel a download (or a timing out download) by closing the status window at any time. This should prevent the program hanging when it's not getting a server response.

v1.31

Fixed a bug causing the program to hang when downloading multiple skins.
Re-added "Remote Versions" as the problem has now been fixed.

v1.3

Fixed various bugs.
Added lots more error feedback and status updates.
Removed "Remote Version" feature as it was causing several problems and considerably slowing down the program.
Added "Last Modified" back.
Added "Check Commits" button which will take you to the commits page for each skin, allowing you to see when the last update was submitted.

v1.2

Skins now show local and remote versions instead of a last modified date.
Plex Skin Manager will now check for updates for itself, and also updates for Plex Media Center for Windows when checking for external updates.
Added a "Check for Updates" button to force a check for updates instantly.

v1.1

Skins now install into AppData/Local/Plex rather than into the program folder.
Updated to comply with Preen's latest skin database format.

it works, but it's not right. skins are installed to the program files directory of plex, and being on windows this will only complicate things and possibly break a good install of plex. these need to be installed to the %APPDATA%/LOCAL/PLEX/ADDONS folder for now, even though it should be in the roaming folder, not sure why plex puts this in local.

I've updated to version 1.1

Skins will now install into AppData/Local/Plex instead of the program folder.

Also fixed the program to work with the latest database format for Preen.

I'm pleased to inform that PlexAeon has been added to the skins list. I believe that Plex Skin Manager users will start seeing Maverick214's skin shortly.

I'm pleased to inform that Blur should be on the list shortly. Additionally, for those who have missed them, we've added Simplex Energized and Alaska Dark in the past month or so.

Every time I try to install a skin I get a message saying "Unable to connect to the remote server", I press ok and it seems to hang, requiring the process to be ended via task manager.

for me its worse, the program just freezes as soon as the status window pops up and starts to download. i am running win7 x64 enterprise and have tried playing with compatibility mode and nothing works.
any ideas??
is there any other place to manually download all the skins with instructions on how to install them without having to use this app?

Okay, I've gone through the program ironing out as many bugs as I can find, and adding error messages and status updates wherever possible.

Please check to see if the program works now, and if not what error messages appear. If no error messages appear, please let me know specifically what replicates the problem so I can check it out.

Hopefully it will all work now.
