Plex HD on iPad 3 switches to portrait mode

Everytime I start a video the Plex client switches to portrait mode and I have to pick up my iPad and move it to get it to go back to landscape mode.

Anyone else having this issue? I have tried the setting under advanced that says lock to landscape mode and didn't make any difference. I also tried the rotation lock in iOS and also no difference except now I hav to unlock and move then lock again.

Latest beta DLNA media server (if that matters).

This is one of the strangest reports I've had in a while! I've tried everything I can think of but it's working fine here. Can you provide a bit more information?

1. Is everyone holding the iPad in landscape orientation when starting a video?
2. Is the iPad orientation lock enabled?
3. Is the Landscape Lock advanced setting enabled?
4. How are you all starting playback? By tapping a movie directly, or by playing from the detail screen?

Sorry I don't have more positive news, but I'm really stumped on this one :( it's definitely not affecting many users, so if we can find something in common between how you're all using the app it might help me track the problem down.

Jam, many thanks for looking into this.

1.) iPad is sitting on a desk in landscape orientation, so not even in my hands. I can even watch a video in landscape, but when i start the next video, the player always opens in portrait orientation.

2.) nope, no lock enabled

3.) negative sir

4.) mostly by tapping a movie directly. I'm currently at work, but i can try playing from detail screen when I'm back home.

Some more information, hopefully this will help somehow:
- I think the problem occurred with the latest update (not 100% sure whether it was the client or server update :-( ... )
- Even if i tap on a queue item (e.g. youtube video) on home screen OR watch a trailer through the "Trailer unleashed" plugin --> portrait mode.
- I updated to the latest stable server yesterday, problem still there

No problems with iPhone app though.

Happens on my iPad 3 as well since the last update.

iPad is always locked in Landscape Mode.

4. How are you all starting playback? By tapping a movie directly, or by playing from the detail screen?
Either way the movie starts up in Portrait Mode.

Same problem here. I have my iPad (1) mounted horizontally. It does not make a difference if I lock the orientation or not. Lock to Landscape is ignored too. Sadly, this makes Plex kind of useless for me, because if have to remove it from the mount every time I start a video.

No problems with iPhone app though.


I have the same problem with the landscape mode in new ipad. The problem beggins with the latest server update (using windows pms) because i still using the same aplication version in my ipad.
I hope this info could help.
