I am pretty new to Ubuntu, and the installation directions they give you on the Plex website are very confusing. I don't know where I enter those values. I found the terminal emulator, but I don't understand the first part of the directions about the myplex.list or whatever. Can anyone help me out? I've googled it for a few days now, and I just can't figure it out. I am pretty knowledgeable with computers, but Windows is my specialty I guess you could say. I just started up with Ubuntu a few days ago. ANY help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Someone might be able to just give you step-by-step instructions that you could copy/paste, and you may be able to get it done - but you wouldn't actually understand what you did. I think it's far better to learn a thing or two so you know what you're doing.

You should probably do some reading in this case. Here's a document about software repositories. You should gain some overall knowledge of them, but you'll specifically be interested in the "Adding Other Repositories" section for the installation of PMS.
https://help.ubuntu....sitories/Ubuntu

Once you understand how to add a third-party repository, then you'll understand what the instructions here mean:
http://www.plexapp.c...ms-download.php

Have fun, and good luck.

Open a terminal, type:

sudo -i
echo "deb http://www.plexapp.com/repo lucid main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plex.list
apt-get update
apt-get install plexmediaserver

sudo will ask you for your password to gain root privileges.

start/stop: sudo service plexmediaserver [start/stop]
