I just started using PMS on my Synology DS412+. I am converting my file names to the prescribed format. However, once a show is correctly named, it is not showing up in the library. Only the first three shows I fixed are showing up. I have fixed several other shows now but they are not showing up in the library. I have done deep scans and force refresh on the library to no avail. How do I get these to show up? All of the files are .m4v files.

I have a similar, yet different problem with the scanning of TV and movies. I also have a 412+ and just started using Plex (using most recent version downloaded from Plex website for Synology x86 - 0.9.7.7.339). It works great except that when new TV shows or movies are added to the monitored directory they are not updated/included in the library. This functionality works fine if I have the Plex Server running on a Windows 7 PC but it doesn't seem to work on the Synology (and yes, I have the option checked to update my library automatically). :-)

Any thoughts?

Can you guys pls try this;

- Restart the PMS
- run a deep scan of your TV sections
- upload your Plex Media Server and Plex Media Scanner.log files -> http://wiki.plexapp....#Plex_Log_Files

I did that and it is giving me a permission denied error on the shows that are not showing up. I do not know why. However, i renamed the show folder, created a new folder with the show name, cut and pasted all of the seasons from the first folder to the second folder, deleted the original folder, then did a refresh and the shows were found then. So not sure why the Plex user did not have permissions to the old folders but I seem to have found a way around it. As these files were all originally on the server when I installed PMS, this may fix my problem all together now.

nothing obvious in there, what media is it you are trying to add?

On the Windows Plex Server, when I added a new movie or TV show the server would detect a new file and add it to my library. On the Synology Plex Server, those changed files are not recognized when they are added to the file directories. I have to manually scan for new media and then they are added. I would add, however, that I have not waited for the scheduled scan to pickup the new media items. I have that set to run every 12 hours and I am assuming that this would catch the new items and add them.

is dropbox active?

part of the process requires the filesystem to idle (aka, the file(s) have completely been written) in order for the scan to kick off, with dropbox watching it this is unlikely to ever happen.

Ahhh...interesting. I map my Dropbox to the NAS so for TV shows it might never be inactive. This wasn't a problem on the Windows version, however.

It's OS based mechanisms and filesystems that tell Plex "something new is here, go for it" so they can work differently on different OS's.

Thanks - I will think about my Dropbox strategy to see if there is a better way to do this.

or just use cron with the command line scan options, or trigger it with the url options...
