When choosing to disable Bonjour/GDM, what is "GDM"?

The wiki is not clear, and I dug through at least 5 pages each of a couple forum searches.
Google, of course, brings up millions of hits for Gnome Display Manager, and it's not helped by narrowing to Plex or XBMC.

Thanks!

GDM = "Good Day Mate" and it's a Bonjour like service discovery protocol, developed in-house by Plex.

how would one know when is a good reason to turn those off? i assume the option is there to uncheck because they could cause some sort of conflict or something. does GDM use different ports than bonjour does? should only one be on at a time if they do pretty much the same thing?

Note to self- awesome software coupled with awesome user community.. worth putting up with a minor annoyance now and then.

If you disable it, you cannot remote control Plex anymore from your iOS device.
