I have been searching for reference to an archive.org plugin for Plex. There was one request I found which was marked as "invalid" for some reason. There is also a badly designed iPad app. I was thinking of the video and audio categories especially the old time radio stuff, as constituting an interesting channel.

There is a "Last Music Archive" or LMA channel. It includes a pretty extensive offering of the music catalog from Archive.org.  I'm not entirely sure if old radio shows are included in the music section of the site or a separate area. The PlexIt bookmarklet should work for music and videos from archive.org so that would be one way to add content for consumption via Plex. If someone wants to tackle creating a channel for video, the URL Service is already done so, navigation would be the main obstacle.

If you are having trouble with one or more channels, check here first.
If you are asked to provide logs, which you will be if you are having plugin problems, the help center has details on where to find them.

The site seems to have RSS feeds for the videos, so maybe I can have a look after I finish up work on BBC iPlayer

Thanks Meo, I listen to a lot of old radio shows like Suspense, which I highly recommend. And you too, Mike, as always.

Since there is already a URL service for Archive.org. You can use the Webisode channel I created to watch the RSS feeds of the videos at Archive.org. I just did a quick check load of one of the video RSS feeds and they seem to play.

To watch the Archive.org videos with Webisodes, the channel is available for download here - http://forums.plexap...nnel-webisodes/

It does not work with audio. Looking at the logs, it appears that the URL service presently only works with video and not audio files.

I think it's because you have to use an AlbumObject for those URLs(instead of EpisodeObject/VideoClipObject)

I've now drafted a channel for this, but it is dependent on an updated URL service. Will do some more testing myself, but should get a Beta version going very soon

UPDATE, March 8, 2014:

The Internet Archive channel is now also available via UAS:

https://forums.plex....icial-appstore/

Installing the channel via UAS is now the recommended method(since updates will be pushed automatically)

Manual install can still be done though:

https://github.com/m...hive/master.zip

  1. Unzip and rename to InternetArchive.bundle
  2. Place in PMS plugin directory
  3. Restart PMS

Thanks Meo, this is great. I have briefly explored and the links I tried are working. Would it be possible to add a favourites or saved search feature. This would let me create a list of media using my iPad which would also then be available via Plexconnect on the Apple TV. This is useful since one cannot search via the ATV channel interface. Thanks again. I appreciate your efforts.

Just discovered this.  Kind of fun!  Two requests:

1.  Can we get this listed with the other links at https://forums.plex....rt/#entry561709

2.  A search function would really help a lot.

Thank you!

Hi!

A mod can probably help to add the link?

Regarding the search function, which client are you using? A search function exist and it should work in the following clients(at least):

  • Plex/Web
  • Plex Home Theater
  • iPad/iPhone apps
