        - Display a list of Actors/Directors/Producers and Writers for selected item
        - Persons poster will be displayed if your PMS has a URL for them (depends on the scaper)
        - Select a person to get a list of movies/tv/other content

        - Listed content will show Server/Section name on the top right
        - NOTE: people searches only work in the PMS by sections for now

        - Toggle to change limit is in rarflix prefs
* Remote Logging: If enabled, they will not go to PlexServers any more.
I suggest to never use this unless you are testing with me. If you are work with
a Plex Employee and remote logging, you shouldn't be using this channel
* Update breadcrumbs on the Global (home screen) Recently Added content - inclue the server name

* HUD: display current time and time watched when video duration is unavailable ( usually queue videos, some channels, trailers )
* SlideShow Overlay toggle: toggle for text overlay during slideshow (down button) -- request

* Hide Rows: you can now hide rows instead of reordering them, which you can still do too. ( not per section though )

* Audio Preferences: Moved some settings under the advanced settings that have to do with Audio to this section
* ReFrames upped to 9 ( may direct play more media )
* HUD: includes Direct Play / Transcode info, Vid Resolution, Audio Channels, Audio Format, video container
* Playback options and Delete are moved into the 'More' dialog (for movies) - use the 'More...' Button

There were a few touch ups to the existing mods:
* movie watched status will show (watched+restarted) instead of just watched. Might explain why a movie is on deck yet watched
* TV season watched status breadcrumbs (top right of screen) cleaned up. Will no longer show watched status on breadcrumb to save space
* others.. but not really necessary to list

** Fixes **

- Show the option to Hide Rows in the preferred Row Order
- remove "invalid" from HUD when Release Date is unavailable ( usually queue videos, some channels, trailers )
- ability to delete queue items (only affected rarflix/rarflixtest )
- when browsing the global on deck (non shared users) entering a movie would allow you to click left or right. If the next option was not a movie, you were given the option to "play" the content which would result in a crash. Now we just limit the ability to click left or right - not really a complete fix, but will stop an accidental crash. (bug seen in official channel too)
crash when clicking the play button on a Photo folder (bug was only present in rarflixtest)
- updated logic in the more dialog for mark was watched/unwated; only show watched/unwatched when it make sense!
- Breadcrumbs updated when selecting "All Seasons of {ShowTitle}" or "Season {#}" insead of just diplaying "Series"
- Recently Added (unwatched), Recently Released (unwatched) rows could not be hidden
- Depending on how one entered a TV Episode, the more button wouldn't exist due to data missing from the PMS response. We now obtain the needed info another way when missing.
- remove "invalid" from HUD when Release Date is unavailable ( usually queue videos, some channels, trailers )

- Fix: TV marked as watched/unwatched does not function as it should - fixed: github
- Fix: crash when clicking the play button on a Photo folder (bug was only present in rarflixtest)

-- Wanted --
Please comment on this topic with your request - it will be added if possible

* Audio Preferences: DTS enable/disable option
* Audio Preferences: Moved some settings under the advanced settings that have to do with Audio to this section

Sideloading & Obtaining logs to fix a crash

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode on the Roku

  • HOME 3 times, UP 2 times, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT
  • Enable developer mode on the screen that comes up.
  • Download the most recent RARflixTest zip
  • In a web browser go to http://YOUR_ROKU_IP ( example http://192.168.0.100)
  • Click browse and navigate to the RARflixTest zip you downloaded
  • Click the install button
  • This will automatically start the side loaded channel. It will also be the "last" channel on the home screen.
  • NOTE: this sideloaded channel will not share settings with the existing installed channel. You may have to change some settings to get going.

Step 2: telnet to the Roku on port 8085 to view the LIVE logs -- this will catch the crash and give us the info needed

  • open a command prompt, cmd.exe ( linux/osx, start a terminal )
  • telnet (YOUR_ROKU_IP) 8085
  • keep this window open while you access RARflixTest
  • try to cause the crash
  • attach the output to the existing forum thread

I

figured I'd share this here. I have customized the Roku channel just a little bit. It's ONLY small modifications, not an entire rewrite, so it will look almost identical to the normal Roku channel. I try and keep this up to date with any changes @ PlexInc's Git Repo . Meaning this will have all the updates the PlexTest channel has along with any updates not yet pushed. I'd also like to thank Schuyler for answering all of my questions! BrightScript is just lovely...

Looks good. I'll load this up tonight and test it out. One thing that bothers me about the Roku player is that there isn't a way to see the progress of a video while it's playing. Is that something that can be added or is there limitations in the SDK around the player?

Yea, I always wished I could add an end time. It is a limitation of SDK unless one were to rewrite a custom video player and I don't know what's all involved with that. Currently the only things supported in the default video player are title (line 1, top of HUD), length (line 2+, column 1) and release date ( line 2+, column 2)

* The Title is always the top line in bold.

* Length can only be an integer ( roku handles the conversion to human readable format )
-- column 1

* Release date: supports text. As you can see with transcoding, I am adding new lines but I believe it only allows for 3 lines ( not verified )
-- column 2

As of recently, it might be possible to update the HUD as the video plays, but I haven't yet looked into that. I'll put that on my list to check the possibilities. Currently I have another idea I am toying with which will bring happiness to many if I can figure it out :)

Love it. The Rotten Tomatoes integration for Movies should be added to the main Plex channel, it just makes sense.

If you can add a shuffle feature for when we watch music videos that would be great.

I'm using this and its pretty awesome. Any idea why subtitles play on some movies and not on others? I just got a Roku 3 a few days ago and it seems stream most of my bluray ripped mkvs. It did seem to rebuffer on Gi Joe Retaliation though, is there any way to change how much to buffer? I'm running this on gbit ethernet on a real Cisco switch, not linksys. Also Its not my server.

Any ideas on these things would be great!.

Thank you.

There is no way to change the buffer as of now. Since you are a PlexPass memeber you can view the buffering feature request topic. Even if this was implemented at some point in the PMS, I would think the buffering capabilities also depend on the client so it doesn't mean it would just work for the Roku. Also note, that it's not your server so there are a few possibilities: the server didn't have enough upload bandwdith at the time, the server was busy, other internet downloads might have been occurring when you were streaming, etc..  If it gets choppy, you could also try and lower the quality for the duration of that stream.

Subtitles are also a lot of fun. I would look at these topics in the Roku forums or start a new topic in regards to your subtitles not working for some videos. It's not cut and dry as it depends on the subtitle format, media container and other possibilities.

Thanks for the quick reply! Btw I clicked on your donate link and donated. I'll check out the buffering request area. What do you mean by its not my server? I'm talking about my local 138TB server. I use a Dell Rackmount R310 with a Xeon hooked to a few external SAS enclosures. I wasn't currently doing anything on my network when streaming and pretty much every MKV file I have tested so far has worked. I'm sure i'll run into others that don't. I use makemkv and rip directly from BD to mkv without re-encoding. I keep native Video and DTS/TrueHD etc audio streams. I direct played quite a few videos testing lastnight. The only one I noticed an issue with was my new GI Joe mkv.

Also my internet bandwidth isn't fast enough to affect my local media on my server and all my media players are segmented away from the rest of my network by having their own VLAN.

About the subititle thing. I actually think i read that internal subtitles in MKV don't work. I would actually agree if I didn't happen to notice an internal sub on 2 movies just starting showing, I was very suprised. Thanks for the info tho i'll look into the subtitle issue more and the buffering topic.

I thought you meant it was a shared server when you said "Also Its not my server." I guess you meant the issue is not your server :) Thanks for the donation! That link is actually meant for plexWatch, but it's all the same to me.

I was wondering if you would consider adding trailers to your mod.  I scrape my data from The Movie DB and most have YouTube links for movie trailers (that XBMC uses for their trailers).

I would like to be able to play these videos.  Possible??

great work.

You all might want to check out the first post of this topic. I have a new channel for testing RARFlixTest. It has support for Movie Trailers from Youtube.

Please let me know of any issues. It is known that some videos will not play as some content on youtube is paid, locked and I just couldn't locate a playable mp4 file. The error you might receive is "Could not find any playable formats. Please try another video..."  -- which means exactly what it says, please try another youtube video :)

Big thanks to 'jesstech' for the youtube code I found through a google search: https://bitbucket.or...ch/roku-youtube

FYI, Your Plex test channel breaks the Youtube channel. If I attempt to play anything from the Youtube channel I get kicked out of Plex back to Roku's main menu. This does not happen with Plextest or the main Plex channel. This problem is not new with the latest update. The problem existed with the last version too.

Thanks for the report. I don't use the youtube channel, but I guess I will try it now :) I'll post this as a known issue and find a fix for it.

Update: Fixed and pushed to both RARFlix and RARFlixTest as of 6PM PST ( just force an update on Roku )

Havn't tried this yet, but I'm assuming the Youtube trailer stuff comes direct from Youtube to the Roku and bypasses the Plex Server? I only ask as my Plex Server doesnt do transcoding. :D

On the latest update of RARflix my delete function is missing.

It's moved to the 'more' button. There are only so many lines to work with... please let me know if it works as I don't allow deletion on my server

Edit: I verified it shows up under the "more" button after I enabled 'allow deletion" on my server. However I don't have any media to delete, so let me know if it doesn't work.
