1.15.0.647 - readynas os 6 - fails to install

Server Version#: 1.15.0.647
Player Version#:

from my existing 1.14 install, click link to manually download @ https://plex.tv/downloads/latest/1?channel=8&build=linux-ubuntu-x86_64&distro=readynas6&X-Plex-Token=

which downloads file named plexmediaserver_1.15.0.647-67e950f12_amd64.deb

which right off the bat is suspicious because readynas is debian (not ubuntu) based (jessie) and the previous installation files were named specifically for ROS6 @ plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries_1.14.1.5488-cc260c476_amd64.deb (to be clear I understand that debian/ubuntu deb files are pretty much interchangeable)

the 1.15 .deb file fails to install via the standard readynas os 6 web admin app/upload procedure. error is “application failed to install”

Feb 06, 2019 08:23:07 PM System: Cannot install application plexmediaserver

the 1.14 .deb (and obviously previous releases too) install normally through the web admin with no errors.

I previously reported this on the alpha thread but drew no response @ Much faster (hopefully), smaller (mostly) and better PMS builds preview (1.15.0.573-123756e9a)

at this point, server remains at 1.14 apparently unmodified the installation attempt.

edit - this issue may be specific to readynas os 6 6.10.0 RC 1
other thread confirmed working on 6.9.5 @ Plex 1.15.0.647

Thanks for confirming. We learned too late of a version number conflict with WD’s system.

Even though 1.15.0.0647 is newer, the WD thinks it’s older because of their format.

We’re working with them now to resolve it.

Hi Chuck, readynas is Netgear, not western digital.

2 different companies and nas’s.

@ChuckPa see also my edit in OP

Can you tell? One of “those” days? :man_facepalming:

thanks. I see it now.

HI @TeknoJunky I am part of the team that worked on the packaging for various NAS/Linux platforms in our new build system.

To be clear, that is the correct package name (we cleaned things up and removed the ros6-biniaries suffix).

I’ll reach out to Netgear to discuss this issue and test on 6.10 RC firmware in our lab, but for now, please roll back to PMS 1.14.1

Thanks for bringing this to our attention

Thanks for the follow up. I also posted a thread in the Readynas beta forum linking to this one.

I am on ReadyNAS 312, firmware 6.9.5. I started the usual upload file to do an update from Version 1.14.1.5488-cc26…to version 1.15.0.647-67e9…
When Is start the file upload, the system returns a message I have never encountered before:

“Installing plexmedaserver_1.15
0.647-67e950f2_amd64.deb also removes Plex Media Server. Do you wish to continue?”

I am afraid of losing all my data, so I guess I should skip this version or is this something new?

Confirming appears to be fix in 659 was able to update over 1.14 successfully.

Thanks again!
