I was advised that the bug may be fixed in the next release…but I seem to still be getting random crashes. I’ve attached the logs from today for reference.
Looks like the server crashed somewhere around 7:45 AM EST today.
I am running plex on a synology ds 1815+ with the latest version of DSM.
I too have a Synology DS1815+ With the latest DSM and found that Plex 1.8.1.4139 would seemingly crash as soon as a recording was initiated. The NAS wasn’t able to make a single recording with 1.8.1. Therefore I ended up rolling PMS back to an earlier version which seems to work fine.
I think PMS 1.8.0 worked OK as well but to be safe I rolled back to something like 1.7.6.
Sorry that I haven’t got a better solution but uninstalling and installing an older version seems to work.
Just out of curiosity, how much RAM does your DS1815+ have? I only have the default 2GB and I find that the RAM utilization is almost always high (85% or possibly more). I’m think 4GB or more “might” help stability.

I think PMS 1.8.0 worked OK as well but to be safe I rolled back to something like 1.7.5.

Where did you get a copy of the previous release? I’ve been thinking about this…but didn’t feel like getting a copy not directly from plex.
And I’m in the same boat with 2gb. That could be the issue…I ordered more ram the other day as I thought the same. So we shall see in that aspect.
I usually just do a manual download of PMS for Synology x86 and Windows then save each version in a “Plex Download” folder. Then for the Synology NAS, I temporarily enable installation from sources other then Synology. After the install I re-enable the Synology only option.
So I had the older version of PMS on file.
I feel like you’re always taking a bit of a risk when upgrading Plex.
I have an old laptop with some DDR3 that should work in the DS1815+. The RAM might be a little slower though. It might be worth a shot.
Either way, whatever the cause, it looks like there is an issue with PMS 1.8.1 and Synology X86 NAS units running current DSM. The same issue that hit your NAS seems to be what hit mine.

Version 1.7.6.4058.
Thanks. Downgraded to this last night and woke up to Plex being down this morning. Going to give it another day…just not having good luck at the moment
In my case I uninstalled 1.8.1 and installed 1.7.6. After that I rebooted the DS1815+ NAS. Since I was sure that scheduled recordings were triggering the crashes under 1.8.1, I consider settling up test recordings but never got around to it. All scheduled recordings just worked after downgrading and my concerns were put at ease.
