Any devs gonna reply? Android Tv & normal apk still needs fixing with the apps

Does your device support 10 bit HEVC decoding? Or should it be transcoding and isn’t?

Hi thank you for the reply :). I’m using the nvidia shield tv, when i load a 4k movie or any other 10bit HEVC videos. The screen goes black and the loading orange bar just keeps going forward as if the movie was playing. Also when i use Samsung Galaxy S2 same thing happens also it goes into a grey screen. I’m using plex cloud, my movies are from google drive.

Direct playing 10 bit video results in grey or white video with artifacts

I can confirm the same with my friends Android phone. She’s having grey or white videos with artifacts when they’re 10bit, they are Direct Playing by default, while switch to transcoding works fine (but switch to auto often gives a crash). If she downloads the video and opens it in default android player - it says that it’s unsupported codec and can’t be played.

I know I supposedly can edit device profile on the server or something, but the server is not mine and I don’t have direct access to it, so I thought I could at least report it.

Most often the issue is with h264 anime files, which usually have a low bitrate even in 1080p, which means to force transcoding you have to sacrifice the quality by choosing the lower resolution (or it’ll just direct play with grey screen).

Device is Galaxy S6. Android is 6.0.1 (device is unable to update for some reason, I wonder if newer android versions have this issue?)

I’m attaching the sample.

Don’t want to create new thread, but would like it to get noticed by the Plex team, sorry if I’m bothering.
