# 4K playback issues

Hi All,
I am having playback problems with 4K TV episode of planet earth 2.
When playing it on my 4K Samsung 2015 TV I experience jitteriness in video file, however the audio plays fine.
I checked my PMS which runs on a 2013 Mac mini and it shows no evidence of trying to transcode the file. I have checked that direct play is enabled .
However if I take the same file and play it from a memory stick the playback is perfect. My TV is also connected to my router via a gigabit Ethernet cable.
I am at a complete loss on what it might be. The file details are as follows:
Source : 4K UHD Bluray
File size : 12.3 GiB
Overall bit rate : 30.3 Mb/s
Video
x265 3840x2160 @ 25 fps 24.3 Mbps BT.2020 HDR
Audio
English: 48 kHz/24-bit, DTSHD-MA 5.1 3840 kbps
Subtitles Full + Forced English
Just a note when trying to play it I remove the force subtitles.
Any help of any methods to try is greatly appreciated.

Just a quick update, I can see PMS is transcoding which explains the jitteriness, but can’t figure out why

If this file is in an MKV container try remuxing it into an MP4 file that’s web optimized (has MOOV atom at start of file) (should be quick to do) and try playing the MP4 version.

Won’t I loose chapters and embedded subtitles?

Nope, not if done correctly. I know the scripts I have in my SIG that a lot of people use will handle them both just fine when converting to MP4.
To be honest I don’t know if this will fix the issue or not but MKV/4K have issues far more than MP4 do so it’s a good test to narrow/fix problem.
