A New Experimental Plex Front End

Does anyone have a fork of this? The repository is empty, I really want to test it.

This isn’t an open source project, its a commercial project. I use that repo for issue tracking.

Been using 1.1 beta and can’t get episodes to autoplay (play next ep once current is finished).

Also I’ve noticed playback does not appear on plex dash weirdly enough.

Another thing, MKV says transcoding (HLS) under info - is this indicating direct stream/remux or full transcode?

that is strange (not showing up on the dash). I’ll look into the autoplay issue. And we use the AVPlayer, which doesn’t support MKV, so it is transcoding, possibly remux, depending on the codecs inside the wrapper, but not direct play.

Yep let me know if I can help in anyway.

Yeah I’m pretty happy with remuxing to use AVPlayer. Is there any need to create a custom tvOS.xml profile or it’s all handled for decision making?

Eh? Not sure about the countdown, but progress! Still buggy but roughed in and sort of working.

Okay, Genus currently works by using whatever connection info Plex returns when you authenticate to your account, this seems to not be as complete as one would be lead to believe. I am going to add some defensive code and harden things around server discovery and push it out in the next beta. Please download and see if that resolves your issues.

Thanks for the help and testing!

okay folks, I have been cranking away on the next beta which will include:

  1. Top Shelf, with selectable source (continue, newest movies, newest tv, combined newest movies/tv)
  2. Continue Watching for Episodes (turn on/off in settings)
  3. Random for Series (turn on/off in settings)
  4. The return of filtering by letter for libraries (fixing the THE problem as well)
  5. Hopefully fixes for the server connection issues that have popped up (this one is tricky)

Hopefully in the next week or two. Thanks again for all the help on this.

Hey, Hey. Easier than I thought.

You’ve been busy!
Sorry if this was addressed:
Captions on Replay, will your app do Captions on Replay like AppleTV?

Only a few iosTV Apple have this, Apple TV of course, Paramount Plus+ and only a few more, so If you don’t add Captions on Replay, that’s understandable.

Is that where you hit the back button 10 seconds and it does captions for like 30 seconds or something? Because that is a super nice feature for sure

Yes. That’s it.

Jut read this. I remember it not being secure in TestFlight but* never reported it because I assumed that was expected.

I just tried with the v1.1 build 1 TestFlight version and Varys/Plex did* not even ‘see’ it was playing at all - very strange! I will reset/restart everything and try again later.

[edited: grammar, typos, auto-correct fails]

so did it work, but wasn’t reported in the plex dash? confused by the wording above!

So. Anybody want to help test the iPad version?

No iPad unfortunately but looking nice! Keep it up!

It’s great to see you’re still working on it.
Unfortunately, the new beta isn’t working for me either (request timed out).
I guess I’ll have to wait until the full version is released for the European market. In any case, I’m excited—it looks really good.
