Help!!! I have been spending numerous hours trying to get this to work. I can’t seem to connect to my server when launching plex. I connect through my local IP with port 32400, opened the firewall to make sure that will work as well. WHat am I doing wrong?

This is a very straight forward url to do…

If your computer is at, for example, 192.168.0.13 (which is mine haha), and your Synology is at 192.168.0.14, then in your browser:

http://192.168.0.14:32400/web

is all you need.

that’s what I have been doing. My Synology NAS, where the Plex server is running is at: 192.150.1.39, so I go to http://192.150.1.39:32400/web.
I am able to login successfully, but I m]the media server is not found. I receive that error:
A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here.

It’s installed and running, but no love!!!

Ok then!

Please do the following:

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open File Station
  3. Navigate to the Plex share
  4. Drill down until you see the main directory containing Preferences.xml
  5. Delete it (Preferences.xml)
  6. Restart PMS
  7. Now open the IP of your Syno in the browser.
  8. If still no joy, I’ll need to see your network config. First things to check for a) can’t use Jumbo packets b) correct adapter set as Default Gateway

still no joy, here is a screenshot

of my network config

thank you for taking the time and helping me troubleshoot the issue. It’s so strange that I could load this on any of my other machines, but for some reason it will not work on my nas.

thank you for that.

192.150.x.x is not in the RFC block for a private (home) LAN. PMS thinks everything on your LAN is ‘Public’ and therefore untrusted.

Searching will not be successful. Change the IP of everything , put it in 192.168.x.x and you’ll start to work correctly.

@ChuckPa hope you can me as well, I having lately this problem with Plex on my Synology DS416.
Some days ago trying something with a VPN app I did mess the proxy settings and I think that’s the reason. Uninstalled the VPN app but don’t know how to reset values.

I wish I could help you with MacOS but I have no experience. I can only tell you to take it all out (Proxy and VPN) first. Get back to basics.
