With Google Photos no longer offering free unlimited storage from next year, now would be the perfect opportunity to improve Plex’s photo viewing experience. I would think many people previously relying on Google’s incredible Photo service are looking for alternatives.
One of the huge features missing from Plex Web is the ability to simply zoom into photos. With cameras these days having a huge amount of detail, not being able to zoom in makes viewing photos via Plex a bit of a frustrating experience.
The photo zoom on Android could also be better as you can’t zoom as closely as you can with Google Photos and also the detail level is lower when you do zoom in.
Honestly it wouldn’t even be that hard to implement considering all you’re doing is streaming the image in; and just using one of hundreds of pre-made image viewer libraries built into HTML5, Android and iOS to allow you to zoom into the image.
We are considering lifetime pass of this great application we are currently using and testing the free version but we couldn’t believe it didn’t has a simple zoom feature into photos…! It lead us here and we can’t believe it’s not such a basic and fundamental feature! Sharing massive database of photos with the family it’s our primary objective.
We would also like to suggest to have in consideration:
Photos transitions
Correct photo orientation (clock wise)
Music playlists linked to certain Photo galleries.
