Please add quality profiles above 20 Mbps 1080p in order to enable transcoding to 4K. In what client are you missing that option? Also… just to clarify… are you talking about the general client streaming quality preferences or changing the playback quality of an ongoing stream via the playback controls? IIRC some clients only offer higher quality options if the source has a high bitrate 4K resolution and the client recognized sufficient bandwidth. ---

In order to support 4K, you need to use HEVC as target codec. (while using AVC for 4K is theoretically possible, the support in actual player devices is actually not that great) So, I suggest, you back this request first: [Transcode to HEVC/x265](https://forums.plex.tv/t/transcode-to-hevc-x265/360421/1) Suffice to say that doing so will require your server to have hardware encoding support for HEVC. Even today’s most powerful CPUs cannot sensibly encode to HEVC in realtime. ---

Will check Plex for Windows later. ---

No. The issue is, that the quality selection profile for 4K is missing on some platforms apparently without a reason. I would think I as creator of this request should know what its about. ---

There’s already an existing suggestion from a different user pointing out the different quality options compared to e.g. the Apple clients. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Apart from that, yes the request is similar and didn’t come up using the …ehm great search function. ---
